Mia Akrap, Ivana Fischer, Martina Grlić and Pavle Pavlović exhibit at the 8th Painting Biennial in Zagreb
At the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery, the eighth edition of this nationally significant event – the 8th Painting Biennial – will open on April 28 2026, at 7 p.m. The Biennial is organized by the Croatian Association of Fine Artists in partnership with the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery. As part of the event, works by Mia Akrap, Ivana Fischer, Martina Grlić and Pavle Pavlović will also be exhibited. The exhibition will remain open until June 21, 2026.
The Painting Biennial offers a broad overview of the generations actively shaping the Croatian painting scene, with the aim of documenting the most recent two-year production and articulating contemporary tendencies in painting. Since the Meštrović Pavilion – the usual central venue of the Biennial – is currently undergoing renovation, this year’s edition has been developed in collaboration with numerous partner institutions and will be the most extensive to date.
After Zagreb, the Biennial will be presented throughout 2026 at the Poreč Open University, the Vukovar City Museum, and the Providur’s Palace in Zadar. In this way, the Painting Biennial becomes present across different regions of Croatia, bringing the contemporary Croatian painting scene closer to a wider audience.
