Kristian Kožul at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka

The exhibition After First, Comes Second brings together eight invited artists from different generations, presenting sculptures, installations, and site-specific interventions: Kristian Kožul, Vedran Perkov, Viktor Popović, Gaia Radić, Igor Ruf, Sara Salamon, Tanja Vujasinović, and Vlasta Žanić. The exhibition is curated by Ksenija Orelj and runs from July 18 to August 31.

Kristian Kožul: Forensic Folklore: The Archipelago, 2018.

Kristian Kožul’s sculptural installation explores the fragile boundary between truth and manipulation. Drawing on the rise of forensic aesthetics — where science and image have become evidence in court — Kožul shifts the perspective, staging scenes of falsification, ambiguity, and political obstruction.

Combining elements of pop art, surrealism, and post-socialist material culture, his work questions how systems of knowledge can simultaneously reveal and conceal violence, memory, and justice. Rather than offering resolution, the installation unsettles the viewer, reminding us of the vulnerability of truth in the age of disinformation.
