OKO

OKO 2024.

Marina Mesar, known as OKO (b. Zagreb, Croatia), works across various media, including painting, drawing, illustration, and public interventions and murals. She often creates surreal imagery and portrays anthropomorphic figures—blending human, animal, and otherworldly forms—to explore themes of identity, memory, and mythology. OKO has exhibited in museums and galleries such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Bolzano, e-flux Gallery in New York, Mograg Gallery in Tokyo, and the European Parliament in Brussels. Her public works can be found in various cities, including Zagreb, Turin, Toulouse, London, and Berlin. Her mural Open My Eyes That I May See is featured on the façade of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, and her interactive video/wall work Don’t Follow the White Rabbit is part of its permanent collection. Her mural Equilibrium is included in the European Central Bank Art Collection in Frankfurt. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb in 2013 and currently lives between Zagreb and London.
